Susan Keating Glaspell (July 1, 1876 – July 28, 1948) was an American playwright, novelist, journalist and actress.

Stephen Crane (November 1, 1871 – June 5, 1900) was an American poet, novelist, and short story writer. 

William Sydney Porter (September 11, 1862 – June 5, 1910), better known by his pen name O. Henry, was an American short story writer.

John Griffith London (January 12, 1876 – November 22, 1916) was an American novelist, journalist, and social activist. 

Samuel Langhorne Clemens (November 30, 1835 – April 21, 1910), known by his pen name Mark Twain, was an American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, publisher, and lecturer.
